The national rally car collided with a motorcycle of the director of princess gate nursery and primary school carrying two school kids as the car was just taking off from Soroti hotel a head of the Kick off the national rally championship today in Soroti city.
The accident happened right at the gate of Soroti hotel on a head on collision between the national rally car and the motorcycle of the director coming from the direction of Soroti Catholic diocese and two school children who were headed for handball games at the Soroti sports grounds.
The accident caused a fracture to One of kid’s leg that got broken, the other sustained a minor injury and the director did not sustain any injuries.
The director of the school Mohamed Sulaiman expressed his frustration to lack of traffic to guide the rally cars and the road users.
“They have not put any traffic here, at least there should be traffic to guide people, this is a very very bad thing”.
One of the eyewitnesses on ground said the traffic police unvailability has caused the accident.
“what happened is very bad and the organizing committee should look to put serious traffic here”
One Other eyewitness said that the director riding the motorcycle was not conscious about the crowds ahead of him.
“At least he could have also slowed down since he saw a crowd of people ahead of him, but instead he ridding at speed that was not good at such a congested area”. He stated
The event manager of the championship has pledged to put in place serious traffic as the games continue
“We are handling the situation and the fans and community should keep calm”. Events manager in a statement
The Resident City commissioner John Micheal Okurut (RCCC) who was on ground said that things are going to be well and the police and medical team are taking action.
“Let people remain calm because we are putting things right. As per now let’s keep calm we are handle it”. RCC Okurut noted
The two children were rashed to Soroti regional referral hospital for immediate medical assistance. We shall be expecting more comments for the events management and the police.
