Manchester City secured their sixth Premier League title in eight seasons after a dramatic late winner from Erling Haaland sent the Etihad Stadium into a frenzy on Sunday afternoon.
The Norwegian striker, who has now scored 38 goals in all competitions this season, latched onto a Kevin De Bruyne through ball in the 89th minute to fire past the helpless goalkeeper and seal a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.
“This group of players never stops believing,” said manager Pep Guardiola after the match. “To win it in this manner, in front of our fans, is something I will never forget.”
Arsenal, who had led for much of the game through a stunning Bukayo Saka free-kick, were left to rue a series of missed chances in the second half that could have put the game beyond City’s reach.
The title victory caps a remarkable campaign for City, who overcame a mid-season injury crisis and a turbulent period off the pitch to emerge triumphant once again. Their final points tally of 89 sees them finish three points clear of second-placed Arsenal.
