Iga Świątek Wins Roland Garros for Fifth Consecutive Year

Iga Świątek made history at Roland Garros by claiming her fifth consecutive French Open title, defeating Madison Keys 6-2, 6-3 in a dominant final display that reinforced her status as the undisputed queen of clay court tennis.

The Polish world number one was at her relentless, clinical best throughout the fortnight, dropping only one set in the entire tournament and conceding just 28 games across seven matches.

“Every year I come here, I want to prove myself again,” Świątek said after lifting the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen trophy for the fifth time. “I never take anything for granted.”

Keys, who had enjoyed a remarkable run to the final including a stunning semi-final win over defending Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina, was simply unable to cope with Świątek’s speed, consistency and the ferocious topspin that makes the Paris clay so perfectly suited to her game.

Świątek’s five consecutive Roland Garros titles place her alongside the legendary Chris Evert in the record books, and many are now beginning to draw comparisons with the greatest clay court players of all time. She is now three Grand Slams behind Serena Williams’ all-time record of 23.
