The most prestigious competition in northern Uganda, the Dwog Pacu cup has reached the finals with kioga count set to face Ajuri county at UTC play grounds in Lira city on Sunday 2nd, august 2026.
The Dwog Pacu is similar competition in nature like the Masaza cup in Buganda, Ateker cup in Teso, Ankole cup in Western Uganda has reached the important stage of the second edition as two second battle for 5M ( Five Million) and the trophy.
In the semi finals, Ajuri eliminated Lira city east constituency on 3-0 aggregate after 2-0 first leg encounter and 1-0 win, on the other kioga eliminated Moroto after lonely goal from Geoffrey Emor’s 77th-minute sen t them to final of the second edition of the dwong pacu after a goales draw in the first leg.
The defending champions Kioga constituency meet with Ajuri County in group on a clash that ended 1-0 in favor of Kioga. Kioga toped the group with 10 points and 8 goals whereas Ajuri came as runners up with 10 points and 3 goals
There is 5 million up for grabs for the winner and the last team out of 21 on the ranking will also win one hundred thousand Uganda shillings. But as it stands on the dwong pacu CUP winners table stand ranking based on performance, kioga stands to win 4.1m, fellow finalists Ajuri (4.1m), third place Moroto (1.8m), fourth place lira city (1.8m).
According to the public relations Officer Abel Ogwang, the competition is set to attract masses across the Lango sun region.
“its a very big excitement for Ajuri to reached the finals for the first time, every one Lango is trying to identify with Ajuri because in any competition teams with the defending champions. But Kioga has also their own fans around town and outside”. PRO Abel Stated
“This is a very tiet game because the two tesms games come from the same group (A). I am calling upon all people of Lango and beyond to own and support your teeams because it’s going to be very interesting game.”
Ogwang also added Dwog Pacu Cup is a single handed found and the support they have receiving is a courtesy appreciation to the foundation. He further recognized Kabisa company for their support of 15 million towards the organization of he tournament.
The PRO also added the tournament is acting as platform for players to get scouted by different clubs.
“clubs across the uganda premier League and kenya have come to scout players. Infact vipers and SC Villa sent scouts so it’s such a good platform.
“this something becoming and better every year and With or without us dwog Pacu is continuing to prosper. It’s a competition like Masaza cup, Ateker”.
The fans across the Northern and uganda at large are anticipating a mega final of two teams that came from the same group with same number of points sharing the stage on Sunday.
