Kenya’s Suguta Super Stars arrives ahead of Ateker Cup of Nations kick off
Suguta Super Stars of Kenya has already touched down in Soroti city head of Sunday 16th when the Ateker Cup of Nations kicks off.
Suguta is from Lodwar in Turkana County, northwestern of Kenya. Suguta appeared in the previous edition of Ateker cup of Nations that was played in Kenya, where they finished as runners up to Ngora of Uganda who became champions.
The head coach of Suguta Super Stars Norbert Etabo expressed confidence and optimism ahead of the competition, stating that the team is ready to win this time around.
“Yes Ngora beat us on penalties in the first edition, but we have come ready to win this time around,” Etabu in an interview with eritei sports
“We came earlier because we want to prepare and win it this time around, we expect maximum corporation from the community and the entire tournament”
Etabu also said that the team has come with a contingent of 30 players plus officials who are ready to take the trophy to Kenya.
The CEO of Ateker Sports and Arts Foundation (ASAF), Isaac Olupot expressed his excitement on the arrival of Suguta FC from Kenya ahead of a Sunday.
“Of course it’s very exciting, many times back in the days in our villages when prepare for a party and visitors don’t turn you will always feel the pain because they have not honoured the invitation,” Olupot Stated
“Suguta arriving many days before the starting ceremony and this means a lot to the unity of Ateker and of course not in the air but in the hearts of the people”
Olupot also revealed that in the first edition only twenty four (24) teams took part in the competition but this time around there are 48 teams that means there has been significant progress and improvement.
