Ateker Women’s cup tips off this year

The Ateker cup for women is tipped to Kick off in May, 2026 as the Ateker competitions take a new landscape in inclusivity for the 2026 season in Teso.
The competition is basically meant to grow girl child football talent as it’s viewed as the only way to bring balance and inclusivity in the Ateker community.

In an interview with the CEO of Ateker Sports and Arts foundation, Isaac Olupot, he clearly stated that the new step of including women’s football annual competition in the Ateker sports Calendar is very integral in growing women’s football in the country and ateker society.
“Ateker cup for women is a new product and we are going to have it in different places but Amuria, Soroti and Serere as our camping areas”. Olupot Isaac in a statement

The inclusivity of the move to change the narrative as competition has over the Year seen only boys competing since 2023 where teams within uganda competed. The recent introduction of the Ateker cup of nations in Lodwar city in the land of the Turkana in Kenya where four nations were involved that sow Ngora district of Uganda emerge as champions was an interesting experience for Kenyans.

Anticipation grows to the return of the second edition of the Ateker cup of nations that saw a huge number of fans in Kenya with good reception from fans and football administrators within Lodwar province in Kenya.
The Ateker cup for women according to Olupot is a new game changer for women in the sport in Teso.
However the big question remains whether the competition will attract a big number of teams and in Teso as controversy marred the previous editions of men’s football with financial issues about awards to winning teams.
