Breaking and Sad: SC Villa Captain David Owori passes on

The Uganda Premier League record champions SC Villa confirmed Owori’s passing in an official club statement issued on Tuesday, describing the incident as a devastating loss to both the club and the country’s football fraternity.

The right back, one of the longest serving players at SC Villa currently passed on at Case Clinic in Kampala following attacks by suspected thugs as he returned home from training on Tuesday. As reported by kawowo sports

SC Villa in the statement release on their social media platforms urged security and law enforcement agencies to act immediately to ensure that those behind the attack face the full force of the law.

“We call upon the relevant security and law enforcement agencies to urgently pursue, apprehend, and bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous crime,” the club said.

The club stressed that Owori’s killing should not go unanswered, describing it as a senseless act that had deprived both Villa and Uganda of an exemplary leader.

The Club also described Owori’s passing as a devastating loss, noting that Uganda has lost not only an accomplished footballer but also an exceptional leader and role model.

“Our SC Villa Captain David Owori 23 year-old was attacked last night near his home in Makindye at around 8pm by unknown thugs,” Kasingye partly wrote on his X and confirmed club president Al Hajji Omar Mandela will address the media on the development.

Sc villa further sent their condolence sto the family indicating their love and compassion to the family and friends of David Owori.

“This senseless act has robbed the Club and the country of a committed captain and a promising sportsman, and it must not go unanswered.

“David was a valuable player, leader, and servant of the game whose loss is deeply felt by both the Club and the nation.”

At first reports came out before his passing that he had been involved in a Boda Boda accident but Kbut late reports indicate that he was attacked by thugs near his home in Makindye at around 8pm.

SC Villa also reaffirmed its commitment to standing with Owori’s family during this incredibly difficult time and ensuring that the late captain is accorded a fitting and dignified farewell.
