The chairman of Soroti city for co-curricular activities Emmanuel Etieku in an interview said that they have kicked started the competition with the major aim of selecting athletes who will represent Soroti city in Tororo on 2nd may, 2026.
Etieku who also doubles as Uganda primary School’s Sports Association (UPSSA) chairperson Teso zone noted that tomorrow 10th April, Soroti city east is going to meet with Soroti city west in order to select the best team that will represent Soroti city in nationals.
The competition brought different relays and field events which included (4x50m rally, 4x1500m, 50m huddle and field events such as high jump, long jump, stick throw, multiple jump, short pout)
In an interview with Eritei sports, Etieku said that the competition is running for days and according to him all government schools in Soroti city east have honored the competition by coming with a surprise of only one private school (Trinity nursery and primary).

“I want to thank trinity so much as the only private schools, we do not know why only one privateschool came. We also don’t understand whether the information did not reach them or not but the communication was delivered to all school but yet it’s very important when you follow the curriculum of Uganda primary schools”. Emmanuel Etieku stated.
He also added that all kids are government children where it is necessary and mandatory for them to attend the completion.
In 2025, Uganda’s kid’s athletics saw major milestones, highlighted by Amolatar District’s surprise second-place finish at the National Primary Schools Kids Athletics and Special Needs Championship in Kabale.
